The keto diet consists of eating high fats and low carb foods, but where do vegetables play a role in that? As it turns out, vegetables are usually very low in carbs and contain plenty of fiber, all of which is acceptable while doing keto. Here, we’ll share with you the best keto friendly vegetables that you can eat alone or add to your keto dishes.

  1. Peas

I absolutely love peas, especially eating them fried and salted. Peas are good for the keto diet since they contain 14 grams of net carbs per 1 cup serving, which is usually more than enough for the average person. I recommend only half a cup with a buttery topping for the best keto results.

  1. Tomatoes

One of my favorite keto friendly vegetables are tomatoes! I have them with my eggs in the morning for breakfast, or just use them to snack on alone. One tomato contains 3 grams of net carbs, making it an excellent choice for a fulfilling snack while on the keto diet.

  1. Carrots

Carrots are another great snack I have when doing the keto diet. Not only are they healthy for you, a half cup of carrots only has 4 grams of net carbs, making it an ideal vegetable to eat while staying on keto.

  1. Cucumbers

Cucumbers are such a refreshing vegetable to have, and even better when doing keto! Cucumbers only have 1.5 grams of carbs per half cup, which means you can enjoy their crunchiness without having to worry about filling your daily carb limit up too quickly.

  1. Broccoli

Broccoli is great to have with ranch or in Broccoli and Cheese soup when on the keto diet. Its carb content is only 4 grams per cup and it also has lots of potassium which can help us reach our ideal nutrient levels.

  1. Cauliflower

Cauliflower is an interesting vegetable for me – mainly because I don’t really taste much of it! I use it as a base for my curries or as ‘cauliflower rice’ when I’m looking to replace traditional grains. Cauliflower is a keto friendly vegetable since it only contains 3 grams of carbs per cup. That’s a very small amount and it means you can stay satiated while eating healthy foods!

  1. Spinach

Spinach is not only a healthy vegetable, but also very keto friendly! In fact, it’s recommended to eat while on keto because of its low carb rate at less than a gram of carbs per cup of spinach. It also contains plenty of vitamins and minerals, making your daily intake nutritious and healthy.

  1. Kale

Kale is a little on the higher end when it comes to carbs, at 6 grams of net carbs for 1 cup. But the other health benefits that kale holds may be worth having, especially while on the keto diet. I recommend having a bit of kale in your salad or as a side to your meal so that you’re able to reap the health benefits but not overdo your carb intake.
